About Us

What We’re All About

The Southport Sharks Junior AFL club is a proven player and coach pathway to QFA, QAFL/W, VFL/W and the AFL, located in Queensland's iconic city, the Gold Coast. Our Junior club membership exceeds 500+ registered players across U6's to U17.5 teams in the SEQ juniors & AFL Queensland League.

The Sharks junior Club was established in 1961, evolving into a diversified club offering junior and youth football. The club offers mixed, female and male teams through Auskick, Super stars, and Footy4fun. From U13.5 to U17.5's, players are drafted into Youth divisional teams in youth Competition.

The "Southport Sharks Academy" was established to host summer skills & holiday programs from beginners to the most talented players. The club engages Level 2 youth Coaches to assist our AFL Academy Head Coaches.

The clubs Management Committee are all volunteers, who maintain the club's football operations, canteen and merchandise shop.

Training kicks off in late January each year for youth teams u13 to U17, from mid February our Junior teams U8 to U11 get underway and first games start for Auskick in February. Junior and Youth Competitions start games from late March.

Registrations open after the clubs AGM each year in November, all players are required to be registered when training starts each year.
