AFLQ Return to play Roadmap

Here it is kids, we're back to training in June !

(subject to government approval)


From June 12, Club training will restart.

Stage 1 is now in operation in Queensland, Stage 2 (subject to Government approval) "Training at Clubs" will get underway on June 12 with groups of up to 20 players including Coaches will be allowed with strict measures in place. Multiple teams in age groups with more than 20 players per team will be divided into extra groups utilising all Coaches if necessary. ie: 2 x 12 etc if there are 22 players and two Coaches.

Clubs will now move to a preparation stage to be ready for Government approval before training gets underway for Stage 2 on June 12. We will be calling for volunteers to prepare the club for reopening and help setting up the measures needed for approval.


Key Points on the restart of training (Stage 2 from June 12)


Get in, train, Get out - No socialising pre or post training

Bring your own water bottle

No sharing of fruit or lollies

Incidental contact only

Only footballs can be used, no equipment - ie no bump bags etc

Change rooms are closed for use - only toilets are available

Hygiene protocols before during and post training

Footballs to be sanitised pre & post training

Players will need to do their own strapping

Southport Sharks Junior AFL Management Committee will continue to update members and our 23 teams registered to play this season as the information comes in.

For now, preparation and planning will get underway as we get set to return to training.


Stage 3 Return to Play


So when are games on?

Not until the State Government have approved and have provided formal endorsements for all sports to commence competitions. As per the State Government Road Map, they have indicated July 10 for an assessment of stage 3.


Competition News for Juniors!


There will be no "Conference Championship" or "Community Cup" SEQ competition in the revised 2020 season. Localised leagues will return as per previous years.
